...But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. -Joshua 24:15

Ministries/Groups

Ministry in Motion
The purpose of ministry in motion is to live out our Christian faith by being active representatives of our faith family in the larger community. Through our presence in the church and in the community we hope to connect/reconnect people with God and with each other. What we do:
  • Extend the Communion Table by taking the elements to care facility residents and shut-ins once a month.
  • Take the Church to others by worshipping every other month at Sunnybrook Assisted Living and Carroll Health Care Center. Thanks to the Matthew 25 Grant from the IA Conference new song books will be purchased for the facilities!

Sunday School
During the school year we offer classes for toddlers through adults. We seek to include everyone in a Christian learning experience. Sunday School is 9-10:15 am, except during the summer when it is on break. Children-Youth Sunday School starts with large group singins in the sanctuary at 9:00, and then the classes are dismissed for their age appropriate lessons. Plans are underway for our Easter Program, Props for Easter, which will be held on Palm Sunday. If your children would like to participate please make sure that they attend Sunday School in late March and April so they can get a part and practice.

CHAOS
Christ Has All Our Solutions is a preteen youth group that meets every Sunday evening (during the school year) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. CHAOS is for all area youth ages 9-12 years old. This preteen group's focus is small group activities, mission work, and fun fellowship. If you are 9-12, or know someone who is let them know about CHAOS; they will have fun with their peers singing and praising God, carrying out God's service in their community and beyond, and learning that God is good!

Women of Faith
If you would like to CELEBRATE how wonderful our God is please join our group attending Women of Faith.  Women of Faith will be at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, August 24-25, 2012.   The group will carpool to Des Moines on the first day and spend the night at the Mercy Holiday Inn.  The cost for two days entertainment, speakers, and fun is $89. This also includes a lunch each day.  Hotel costs are additional. See the poster in the entry at church if you would like more information.

GRASP
The Glidden-Ralston After School Program meets in our church Monday thru Thursday 3:30-5 pm throughout the school year. Pre-kindergarten through sixth graders are brought to the church by bus. Volunteers from area churches and teachers from the school come together to provide snacks, homework help, and activities for the children.

Vacation Bible School (summer)
Nazareth, Where Jesus was a Kid
July 10-17, we experienced this fun, hands-on Bible times village at Glidden UMC. Each day, we saw, heard, touched, and even tasted what it was like to live in Jesus' hometome! We explored authentic Marketplace shops, visited with Jesus' mom, Mary, took part in games, danced to lively Bible songs, and sampled tasty tidbits as we discovered more about Jesus' childhood.  These experiences made God's Word come alive with new meaning for participants of all ages!  Plan to join us next summer for another great Vacation Bible School!
